Project Description

MESA10 focuses its activity also on the discussion clubs on current social, political and economic problems. The aim of the discussion clubs is to create a platform for constructive discussion on these issues.

For the last 12 years MESA10 organised 75. discussion clubs in regular discussion clubs under the title of the Slovak Economic Forum (SEF) obtained wide popularity among experts and representatives of politics, academiccs and journalists. In the year 2007 projets SEF paused due to shortage of resources.

The main project aim – to restore Slovak Economic Forum as a tool for improving the quality of the legislative process – was succesfully reached. Three discussion clubs were organised:

  • January 30, 2012 – Justice, Efectivity and reform of Justice System in Slovakia
  • February 06, 2012 – Fiscal and budgetary policy of Slovakia in the context of transition to fiscal union
  • February 20, 2012 – How to secure available conditions for social welfare (social services) for those who need them

The main advantage comparing to other similar discussion clubs is the potential for an informed debate in the presence of experts and prominent leaders of the current government, opposition and independent experts. During discussion clubs SEF may be presented and new ideas and solutions to current problems in the economy and society.
