Building Trails Together
Welcome to the Visegrad4BuldingTrailsTogether! “Western Balkans and V4: Building Trails Together” is MESA10 project supported by the International Visegrad Fund (IVF) and implemented by our partners from Kosovo, Montenegro, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary. The project brings together professionals and enthusiasts from V4 and Western Balkans who work on making the mountains accessible to tourism while protecting natural beauties. Project also promotes idea of volunteerism and grass-root activism. Boost of tourism in the mountains between Kosovo and Montenegro will bring sustainable economic development to the cross-border area of Peja/Pec and Rozaje municipalities. Similarities of the terrain and circumstances with the V4 countries, in particular with Slovak mountains, makes this case ideal for know-how transfer and experience exchange in the mountain tourism and natural protection. Through cooperation in the segment of tourism also the knowledge and relations between Kosovo, Montenegro and V4 countries will be naturally strengthened. The project will also promote tourism opportunities in the Western Balkans within V4 countries
Main idea of proposed project is building the new hiking and biking trails in the chosen area of the Mountain of Hajla. Maps and promotion materials will be developed in digital and printed form. Trails will be built thanks to the joined effort of professionals from Kosovo, Montenegro, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary. Volunteers from these countries will be brought together to contribute to the efforts. Further, with the activities and spirit of this project will promote sensitive interventions in the nature preserving natural heritage. By involving volunteers, we will promote the ownership of people over the interventions in the nature.
Crucial part of the project is the transfer of V4 experience from development of eco-friendly tourism, which leads to the sustainable development of the region, and raising awareness about protection of environment on the grassroot level. Therefore, project counts on cooperation with the country officials on the central and local level, citizen initiatives as well as media.
